At 7:30 a.m. on December 21, 2020, a massive explosion at a demolition site in a West Philadelphia neighborhood on the northern edge of University City that resulted in the deaths and injuries of children at a pre-school day care center, and worshipers at a mosque adjacent to the property. Later that morning veteran Philadelphia Police Detective Frank Benson, began jury service in a federal criminal trial charging Robert Booker, the head of the Building Trades Council and other local labor leaders, of plundering the treasuries of their unions.
While Benson was stuck at the trial, it was determined that the explosion was not an accident but was a deliberate act of terror. Who was responsible, what was their motive, and why was this location selected for such a violent and unspeakable atrocity?
The separate story lines intersect on January 6, 2021 when a suspect in the bombing investigation is identified as a participant in the insurrection.
